One of my greatest joys as a songwriter is having my compositions recorded by other artists. I’ve had the honor of having extraordinarily talented and renowned musicians and vocalists lend their creative interpretations to my songs. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

LANDFALL

I have collaborated over many years and in many ways with my musical and life partner, Richard Grossman, but this particular composition was a bit different. Richard shared the beautiful music he composed  with me (singing and playing all the parts himself) and asked if I had any ideas for lyrics. Well, words are kind of my jam, so of course I did. I had been working on a piece that I titled Landfall for awhile, but had struggled with the music. The original music I had for this composition was in 3/4 waltz time and Richard’s piece was in 4/4 time. As if it was meant to be, the lyrics slipped in like the proverbial hand in glove, and thus, Landfall was realized for both of us.

Taking this piece to the visual medium seemed like the next step for us, and we embarked on another aspect of our collaboration. Using his mastery of video and my love for photography and digital imagery, we were able to bring this composition to a new medium.

I hope you enjoy our collaboration as much as we do!

ME AND THE MOON

Me and the Moon was written for my brother Jim shortly after the passing of his wife, Mai. I don’t believe it’s possible to truly understand the depths of someone else’s grief, but I do feel that there are aspects of loss to which we all can relate; I tried to capture those universal emotions that connect us all in this composition.

I’m grateful for the moving vocal that Prudence Johnson brought to this piece.  Richard Dworsky arranged and performed the exquisitely beautiful piano and Bruce Kurnow provided his plaintive harmonica.

As always, I’m grateful for the collaboration of my husband, Richard Grossman, a remarkable songwriter in his own right. His engineering and production chops are top notch; without him this song would never have been realized.

SPRINGTIME IN OHIO

Springtime in Ohio was recorded by Holly Circle and Jimmy Steffen on their CD Dream. Jimmy’s gorgeous piano arrangement and performance supports Holly’s rich and earthy vocals on this haunting rendition dedicated to the memory of Peter Morgenstern-Clarren.

Holly and Jimmy are not only long time collaborators, but are our dearest friends in music and in life. Special thanks to Michelle Kenny for her stunning cello performance.

ORION’S LIGHT

Orion’s Light was produced and performed by Lonnie Knight on Portals, the last CD he recorded before his passing 2017. Lonnie was a dear friend and collaborator for many years and is missed by many in the musical community, both locally and around the globe.

This song was written for my sister Maureen Frawley – my best frieind, my confident, my hero. I miss her every day. I am grateful to Lonnie for choosing to honor her with his recording.

I wish that both Maureen and Lonnie would have been able to see the visual interpretation of this song. Both of their spirits are infused in this video.

I’M GOOD FOR YOU

I’m Good For You is the result of my decades long collaboration with recording artist Giorge Pettus and writing partner Richard Grossman. This song was recorded for Giorge’s breakout album on MCA Records and reflects the amalgamation of the many styles of music we each brought to the table.

I had the honor of singing background vocals with members of the infamous Steele family on this cut. Giorge’s influence on my songwriting allowed me to stretch my musical wings and explore creativity far beyond what I could ever do on my own, for which I will be ever grateful.

GALILEO

Lonnie Knight chose Galileo as his closing song on his CD So We Jump. His connection to this song is reflected not only in his exquisite musical rendition, but in his beautifully crafted video as well.

Lonnie arranged and performed all instrumentation on this recording, along with the tasteful keyboard sweeteners of Rajta Ren.
