As an artist, I strive to integrate multiple disciplines in my work.
Below are samples of my photo and graphic interpretations of lyrics to some of my compositions.
NEVER LET IT SHOW
Sometimes I sleep at night, most times I don’t
I can walk a hole right through the floor
Most times I feel all right, sometimes I don’t
Just can’t figure what this heart is for
And I’ve seen love come and I’ve felt love go
I know enough to know what I don’t know
But the hardest part is givin’ up your heart
While you walk away and never let it show
Sometimes I dream at night, then again I don’t
Seen a lot of dreamers go down hard
Wish upon a fallin’ star – hangin’ on to hope
Seen a lot of wishes hit the ground
And still love comes, but it always goes
I know enough to know what I don’t know
But the hardest part is givin’ up your heart
While you walk away and never let it tear you apart
Sometimes I feel alone, even in a crowd
People walk right through me like a ghost
Haunted by your memory, here it comes again
Late at night is when I miss you most
And still love comes, but it always goes
I know enough to know what I don’t know
But the hardest part is givin’ up your heart
While you walk away and never let it show
SWEET MAUREEN
South of the Equator
Jesus walks the shore
Searching for a vessel
To take him round the world
And you thought he walked on water
It turns out you were wrong
He needs a boat like you and me
I knew it all along
Sweet, sweet Maureen
Your light was always clouded
By the shadow that I cast
Sweet, sweet Maureen
Your eyes were always lookimg
Through life’s half empty glass
You’re the only one who knew me
As a sister – skin to skin
You watched me fall and stumble
And helped me rise again
Now I’m searching for that vessel
To take me round the world
Jesus never walked on water
I was never fooled
But I’m stuck here in the desert
With the sand beneath my feet
Longing for some water
And the voice of sweet Maureen
Sweet, sweet Maureen
Your light was always clouded
By the shadow that I cast
Sweet, sweet Maureen
Your eyes were always looking
Through life’s half empty glass
And I find myself still listening
To the spaces in between
The ocean and the desert
And the voice of sweet Maureen
COMMON AS THE RAIN
Standing in the doorway with a suitcase and a story yet to tell
The letter on the table by the empty box of cereal
The last farewell, fare thee well
You leave a line of lovers that you count just like the notches on a gun
A sinner or a martyr you will stand before the altar of the lonely ones
You’re not the only one
And all along you think that you are smarter
But I see that you are falling just the same
Everyone falls down, and tears are only water
And cryin’s just as common as the rain
On your mark get ready for the heartbreak and another sleepless night
Searching for an ending to the story you are hoping will be all right
It’ll be alright
And all along you think that you are smarter
I see that you are falling just the same
Everyone falls down, and tears are only water
And cryin’s just as common as the rain
Cryin’s just as common
And oh the tears keep fallin’
Cryin’s just as common as the rain
DESERT ROSE
Here I am a standin’ in the Arizona rain
Feeling like a desert just the same
Of all the things that leave us you know pride is the last to go
And I think I left mine somewhere down the road
Still I keep holding on long after heartbreaks are gone
And I’m never going to leave you and I know you feel the same
And I’m always going to need you like the desert needs the rain
Know that I believe you when you say our love will grow
Like a desert rose
Last time I saw you was more than I could take
Feelin’ like my heart would surely break
But a heart cannot be broken if it’s strong enough to bend
Like a desert rose against the desert wind
Still I keep holding on long after heartbreaks are gone
And I’m never going to leave you and I know you feel the same
And I’m always going to need you like the desert needs the rain
Know that I believe you when you say our love will grow
Give it time give it love give it room enough to grow
We can make a garden out of sand we can grow the sweetest rose
And I’m never going to leave you and I know you feel the same
And I’m always going to need you like the desert needs the rain
And I’m never going to leave you just as long as I can know
That I always can believe you when you say our love can grow
Like a desert rose
HEADLIGHTS
I stand between the margins of tomorrow and today
To clutch the things I have before they fade away
Before they fade away – because there’s just no other way
Huddled in a void like a star that drifts in space
I hide between the furrows and the lines upon my face
The lines upon my face, I live a life that leaves no trace
Death my destination and life my wandering way
At times I really wonder is tomorrow worth today
Is it really worth today ’cause it just don’t seem to pay
Like headlights on the highway I search and seek to find
Pursuing total darkness and leaving it behind
Leaving it behind, I seek a love that does not bind
The sun will rise tomorrow to a sound I will not hear
I reach my hand to touch and find myself so near
So very near – am I the only one that’s here
