One of my greatest joys as a songwriter is to have other artists cover material that I have written or co-written. I’m incredibly honored that two of my tunes have recently been recorded by not only stellar musicians and songwriters in their own right, but also dear friends.
Holly Circle and Jimmy Steffen recorded a song that I wrote following the tragic death of a dear nephew, Peter Morgenstern-Clarren. Peter was an incredible soul with a heart as big as the world; his loss is truly beyond measure. This song came to me in a dream while I was in Ohio attending his service. It was a song that was too close to me to record and I knew that Holly would interpret the emotion behind the lyrics better than anyone I knew. Coupled with Jimmy Steffen’s incredible arranging and keyboard talents, “Springtime in Ohio” is both a gift from and for Peter.
I’ve had the honor and pleasure of sharing both the stage and studio with Lonnie Knight. He has lent not only his talents but his generous spirit to my last two albums. Lonnie is known for his amazing instrumental talent, but I continue to be blown away by his songwriting talents. On So We Jump, he has penned songs that hearken back to the true singer/songwriter era that swept me down that path. So We Jump is getting rave reviews and international attention. Lonnie chose to include his rendition of my song “Galileo” in this stellar collection. Check out the beautiful video he produced for this song
